Music Festival Integrates Added Technology to Help Visitors Customize & Enhance Their Experience
APPLETON, WI (PRWEB) October 19, 2017 -- As Mile of Music has evolved over the last five years in Appleton, Wisconsin, the popular Americana and Roots festival is continuing to integrate added technology as a way for visitors to plan and enjoy the most personalized experience.
Many of these efforts have been focused on the Mile of Music website which was developed by Stellar Blue Technologies. Among the latest are:
• The introduction of My Mile user accounts
• Specialty programming designed to share live-stream announcements on the home page throughout the music festival
• An events calendar that highlights expanded year-round music happenings
• The launch of an online store
With the addition of My Mile, visitors are now able to set up an individual account, giving them the ability to explore original music from all 250 festival artists and select their favorites. This feature also makes it possible for attendees to add music sets by date and time to build a customized festival schedule.
“Stellar Blue Technologies built a great, user-friendly solution in My Mile as it gives people an easy way to preview the artists and narrow the list of 900-plus live performances to those they want to see most,” said Dave Willems, Mile of Music managing director and co-founder.
Another essential website enhancement that was relied on during this year’s Mile 5 was the ability to transition from news blocks to real-time announcements right on the home page. This made it possible for festival organizers to communicate timing and location changes without delay when inclement weather or other factors affected show scheduling.
Other key technology-related enhancements include the launch of an online storefront designed to make Mile of Music merchandise available beyond the festival dates and the addition of a full calendar of events to keep music lovers informed about upcoming live performances in Appleton.
“The original intent of the website was to communicate festival happenings, but now that The Mile is expanding to more year-round music events, it’s a source people are always looking to,” Willems explained.
As the website has evolved, the Stellar Blue team has also incorporated a larger Music Education Team section to highlight workshops, a Mile of Music Alumni section that features past performers and much more.
Mile of Music also has a downloadable festival app developed by Skyline Technologies that visitors can use for planning and exploring.
“Ever since Mile of Music first kicked off in 2013, we’ve been looking to attendees to help us understand what can make their festival visit even better,” Willems shared. “We’ve found that technology has been a huge factor in enhancing the overall experience.”
For 2018, Mile of Music will return to Appleton from August 2-5.
