Harden was an instant success in Houston, finishing fifth in the league in scoring at 25.9 points per game. He showed off a dazzling blend of skills, with the ability to get to the rim, shoot from deep and set up his teammates as well. Harden played in his first All-Star Game a season ago, and looks like he will become a fixture in that game for years to come.
Howard will pair with Omer Asik to form a devastating defensive combo down low for the Rockets. While Howard is exceptional at protecting the rim, Asik excels in team defense and is nearly as good of a rebounder as Howard.
Jeremy Lin was slower to adapt to his new team than either Harden or Asik, but he is still a core member of the roster going forward, and a fine playmaker at point guard. Chandler Parsons is one of the more versatile forwards in the NBA, with the ability to play both small and power forward for the Rockets. He’s a great shooter from three-point territory, and is a long, pesky defender on the outside as well.
The signing of Howard marked an eventful year for the franchise, and fans with Houston Rockets tickets have to appreciate the diligence that Morey showed in building this team largely from the ground up. The Rockets now have the firepower to challenge the Thunder, Spurs, Clippers and Grizzlies in the West, with Houston’s third title now looking closer than it ever has.
