Las Vegas, NV (PRWEB) August 25, 2015 -- While there may not be a “Magic Bullet” when achieving success, there are certainly things that can be done to increase the odds for success. Trevor Schmidt PA-C, the liposuction specialist and owner of MyShape Lipo has performed over 15,000 areas of liposuction and has personally trained over 30 practitioners in the art of liposuction. In a recent interview, Schmidt shares his secrets to helping others attain the skills needed to perform liposuction procedures with consistent success.
There are a handful of places that an aspiring surgeon can go to learn the necessary skills to perform tumescent liposuction. Undoubtedly, these sites include a 1-2 day course that includes lecture and observation of procedures. These courses are typically attended by 5-6 practitioners at one time and have very limited “hands on” experience on real patients.
“Liposuction is all about touch and feel,” says Schmidt. “It’s extremely important to feel what it is like to pass an instrument through someones fat. It’s even more important to understand what to do if there is an issue or a problem. If liposuction training doesn't include hands on experience, it's unlikely one would feel confident to perform the procedure on their own.”
Surgical procedures are not learned in a book or at a lecture. One must put in the time to learn technique and practice said technique until they master the skills required. Techniques can be practiced on “dummies” but the feel is unmatched to the real thing. There are so many variables and different sensations experienced from “real liposuction” procedures that it’s imperative to gain the appropriate experience before one can expect to attain consistent results.
“There is no substitute for experience when it comes to lipo,” explains Schmidt. “I can lecture for hours to describe what can be accomplished in minutes by direct experience. Each patient is different, so it’s very important to understand how to deal with the different qualities of fat and how to get the best results.”
In every procedure there will be an expected range of normal issues that must be dealt with in order to achieve the desired outcome. With liposuction, these issues could be the difference in a happy patient and one that complains secondary to their lack of results.
“When I train people, hands on experience is 90% of the training that occurs,” says Schmidt. “While I explain a technique they can learn by doing and feeling, then get immediate feedback as they are learning. In addition, I focus on the many ‘tricks’ I have to deal with the difficult patient and explain how to achieve consistent results with tested techniques.”
Unlike other training facilities, MyShape Lipo makes their training more personal and limits training to 1-2 practitioners per session. Each trainee is able to get adequate attention and hands on experience. They will be exposed to 3-4 procedures each day of the 2 day training course.
“We are only successful if our trainees are successful in performing liposuction procedures with high quality results,” explains Schmidt. “I’m willing to put in the time and effort to follow through and assure that they have all the tools necessary to get started. I also offer phone support as they get started on their own patients.”
