NAELA President to Participate in White House Conference on Aging
Washington, D.C. (PRWEB) July 09, 2015 -- National Academy of Elder Law Attorneys (NAELA) President Shirley B. Whitenack, Esq., CAP, will attend the White House Conference on Aging on July 13. NAELA is honored to be one of the organizations invited to send an in-person representative. Individuals and organizations are encouraged to hold watch parties and participate via social media. Watch the event live starting at 9:00am ET on July 13.
The conference will bring together government officials, members of the public, caregivers, older Americans, business leaders, and community leaders to discuss a vision for aging in the next decade. The primary themes of the conference are healthy aging, long-term services and supports, retirement security, and elder abuse.
NAELA members counsel individuals who need long-term services and support. Sadly, many seniors do not visit an Elder Law attorney until they have reached a crisis. Seniors, often accompanied by their caregiver adult children, want to know how they will afford the impoverishing costs of long-term care and whether they can remain in their homes and avoid institutionalization.
“With the baby boom generation retiring, the next 10 years will be a critical time to put in place systems that support and protect our most vulnerable seniors. I commend the White House for holding this once-a-decade conference, and I am grateful to participate,” said Whitenack.
