Name Change: The Family Center Will Become Parenting Journey
Somerville, MA (PRWEB) July 23, 2014 -- The Family Center, a nonprofit innovator of high-impact programs that help parents build stronger families, will change its name to Parenting Journey® as the replication of its signature parenting series advances nationwide.
Founded more than 30 years ago, the family support organization launched its highly successful Parenting Journey® program in 1996. Since its debut, Parenting Journey has expanded to include three curriculum-based courses designed to provide parents and caregivers of diverse backgrounds the tools to create stronger families. Nearly 1,200 facilitators have received Parenting Journey training and have replicated it at almost 500 locations throughout New England and New York.
“Our new name reflects the success of Parenting Journey and our commitment to its continued growth not only in terms of replication, but also in terms of developing new innovative programs," said Executive Director Maury Peterson. "Our strengths-based approach has shown proven results, and we will continue to build on our model and train facilitators across the country to reach more and more families."
The new name, Parenting Journey, will replace The Family Center, Inc., as of Monday, July 28, 2014, simultaneous with the launch of its new website: parentingjourney.org. All individual programs and services will retain their current names and continue to be offered.
Since 2000,15,000 parents raising nearly 35,000 children have benefited from Parenting Journey. Today, nearly 400 parents and caregivers attend Parenting Journey programs annually at the organization's Somerville headquarters.
Parenting Journey facilitator training sessions in New York, Washington, D.C., Florida and other locations are scheduled in the upcoming months.
