NAPW Inducts Kimberly Moore, Assistant U.S. Attorney, U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Eastern District of North Carolina, Into its VIP Woman of the Year Circle
Garden City, NY (PRWEB) September 08, 2015 -- The National Association of Professional Women (NAPW) honors Kimberly Moore as a 2015-2016 inductee into its VIP Woman of the Year Circle. She is recognized with this prestigious distinction for leadership in criminal justice. Over the course of her 20-year career as a criminal prosecutor, Kimberly Moore has become a sought-after expert in criminal law, litigation, mediation, communication, problem solving, conflict resolution and motivational leadership. She is currently the Assistant U.S. Attorney for the United States Attorney’s Office in the Eastern District of North Carolina, where she currently handles civil matters involving the Federal Tort Claims Act, False Claims Act, Title VII claims and fraud.
In 2004, Ms. Moore served as Deputy Special Master for the September 11th Victims Compensation Fund, a position she describes as one of her greatest career highlights. In this role, she was responsible for reviewing applications from victims who endured personal injuries at the World Trade Center and the Pentagon to determine the appropriate compensation.
“Obviously, the September 11th terrorist attacks were devastating to everyone and I knew I had to do something. I received an offer to serve in this position and I felt like it was a calling for me,” she said.
Ms. Moore also served as U.S. Department of Justice Resident Legal Advisor to the U.S. Embassy in Kosovo and played an integral role in the shaping of Kosovo’s criminal justice system. In addition to providing valuable contributions to Kosovo’s criminal and criminal procedure codes and witness protection and asset forfeiture laws, she brought several Kosovo judges, prosecutors and defense attorneys to the US to become certified NITA trainers.
“Never in my lifetime did I believe that this girl from a small town in North Carolina would be taking part in developing another country’s criminal justice system,” she said.
Ms. Moore continues to inspire change across the globe, including her overseas teaching efforts.
