NAPW Jacksonville, FL Local Chapter Geared Up for September ‘Corks & Forks II’ Charity Event to Benefit Girls at July Meeting
Garden City, NY (PRWEB) August 08, 2013 -- Members and guests of the NAPW Jacksonville, FL Local Chapter gathered on July 8th for a professional networking meeting.
The group of professional women discussed details for its upcoming charity event Corks & Forks II to be held September 19th at BlackFinn American Grill. Proceeds from the fundraiser will benefit Girls, Inc., the Chapter’s 2013 Focus Charity.
Members and guests heard from Girls, Inc. Interim Executive Director Peg Ganger about the nonprofit’s mission and the important work it does in the Jacksonville community and nationwide.
Jenni Edwards, Jacksonville Local Chapter President, welcomed those in attendance to the meeting.
To kick off the networking event, she challenged members and guests to a networking contest.
“All meeting attendees were encouraged to gather as much information as possible about other Chapter members throughout the meeting,” said President Edwards. “It was a great way to get the evening started!”
A brief overview of the Jacksonville Chapter’s charitable endeavors, to date, followed.
Chapter members voted on the Clara White Mission for the third quarter charity benefited by the Chapter’s monthly initiative, Change for Change.
The first meeting of the third quarter raised $22.40. Quarter two resulted in a total of $57.59 benefiting Hubbard House.
The “No-Bake Bake Sale” at the Chapter’s June meeting raised $173 for Girls, Inc.
The Chapter President announced that details had been finalized for the Jacksonville Chapter’s second major fundraiser. Corks & Forks II will be held Thursday, September 19th at BlackFinn American Grill. Proceeds from the evening benefit the Jacksonville Chapter 2013 Focus Charity, Girls, Inc.
The event will be a four-course meal with wine pairing by PRP Wine. Tickets are $39 per person and include the meal, wine pairings and a bottle of wine to take home.
Chapter member Becky Brothers volunteered to create a Facebook event with the details.
“This affordable ticket price is the result of funds made available due to the Jacksonville Chapter winning the NAPW Charitable Acts Award at this year’s National Networking Conference,” said Jacksonville Chapter President Jenni Edwards.
The Chapter President then introduced Girls, Inc. Interim Executive Director Peg Ganger who provided members with more details about what the organization does in the Jacksonville community and nationwide.
She shared information on the two types of after-school programs, outreach programs, and how the Jacksonville Chapter can help.
Ms. Ganger handed out information about Girls, Inc.’s upcoming Daddy Daughter Dance, a major fundraiser for the organization. She told the group of professional women that Girls, Inc. is still in need of sponsorship, silent auction items and items for their “Don’t Forget Mom” table.
“After learning about the upcoming fundraiser Girls, Inc. is holding, members generously voted to sponsor an NAPW Jacksonville Chapter table and to put together a gift basket of items from Chapter members’ companies for the silent auction,” said President Edwards.
The President then made a number of announcements.
The latest Jacksonville Local Chapter Newsletter was sent out via email. Chapter members were urged to check their messages and contact Chapter Secretary Leah Zimmer if they did not receive the newsletter.
The Jacksonville Chapter Page was revamped by Chapter member Bobbi Nagle. She added a member directory; Chapter members were encouraged to email her their preferred contact information to include in the directory.
The meeting came to a close with an announcement of the Networking Challenge winner.
Chapter member MaryBeth Murray had the most line items filled out by meeting’s end, and won a copy of the book ‘Lean In’ as well as a Clinique bag filled with beauty products.
Chapter President Jenni Edwards once again thanked everyone for coming.
The group of professional women gathered for a quick group photo and to engage in last minute conversation.
