NAPW Members Honor Veterans, Celebrate the Season of Giving at November Networking Events
Garden City, NY (PRWEB) December 08, 2015 -- NAPW members came together in November in a variety of ways to recognize Veterans Appreciation Month and the spirit of Thanksgiving. Whether in person or online, professional women were inspired by personal stories of veterans who bravely served our country, got expert advice from seasoned professionals and raised awareness and funds for local and national charities.
“NAPW members kicked off the season of giving in a major way,” said NAPW President Star Jones. “It all started at our National Networking Summit with activities such as ‘Photos for Philanthropy’ and the NAPW Foundation Luncheon in support of the American Heart Association, the Breast Cancer Research Foundation, Dress for Success and Girls Inc. Our Local Chapters inspired with fundraising activities, celebrations in honor of veterans in their communities and, of course, endless opportunities to work the network!”
At Chapter meetings in NAPW’s Eastern Region, NAPW members did their part and more to feed the hungry and raise awareness for those in need. The NYC Chapter turned shopping into a team-building event as members competed in their annual Supermarket Sweep to benefit The Bowery Mission. Members and guests in Scranton, PA, learned how they could help a local nonprofit and Nassau County, NY, Chapter members discovered ways to de-stress this season during an evening of networking.
“It’s Thanksgiving month and the season of giving . . . a time to take a breath, reflect and be grateful for what we have,” said Louise Newsome, NAPW National Director of Local Chapters and NYC Chapter President. “As professional women, we often multi-task and provide ourselves with little time to recognize our own successes and the internal support needed to stay strong.”
In NAPW’s Western Region, members in Roseville, CA, collected donations for a local food bank and welcomed member Katrina Sawa, an award-winning business coach, speaker and contributing author. Members in Simi Valley, CA, hosted a Salute to Our Veterans event and welcomed a representative from the nonprofit organization, For the Troops. Expert advice from a guest speaker about personal finances was the highlight of the Sacramento, CA, Local Chapter networking meeting.
Honoring veterans by giving thanks and collecting donations for local food pantries and charities was the focus of NAPW members in NAPW’s Central Region, including Central Houston and Fort Worth, TX, Covington, LA, Gulf Coast, MS, and Orland Park and Naperville, IL.
“NAPW members are always willing to do what they can to improve the lives of others while supporting one another. Their passion and generosity is inspiring!” said Ms. Jones.
