NAPW Members Pay It Forward and Give It Back at November Local Chapter Networking Meetings Across the US as They Celebrate the True Spirit of Thanksgiving
Garden City, NY (PRWEB) December 09, 2014 -- Thousands of NAPW members and their guests came together in November to pay it forward and give it back to those in need in their communities and beyond. Some helped fill the shelves of their local food pantries while others cooked hearty Thanksgiving Day meals for hungry families; many Chapters hosted fundraisers to benefit local charities and NAPW Foundation philanthropic partners. At nearly every event, members were inspired to talk about how they are thankful for family and friends and each other. Throughout the month of November, NAPW members epitomized the true spirit of the season by giving thanks and giving back.
“Like family, our Local Chapters are the heart and soul of NAPW. Their giving spirits, profound generosity and eagerness to stand up and cheer for each other’s successes, while teaming up to make a difference in the lives of those less fortunate, made this past Thanksgiving truly special,” said Star Jones, President.
From California to New York, and as far south as Puerto Rico, NAPW members hosted creatively unique events where they were able to generously pay it forward, give it back to others and celebrate one another.
In NAPW’s Central Region, members of the Kansas City Metro, KS Local Chapter kicked off the season of gratitude by sharing what they are most thankful for. The group collected canned goods for their local City Union Mission, an effort that will go far in helping those less fortunate get the food they need.
Members and their guests at Local Chapters throughout NAPW’s Eastern Region did their part and more to help feed the hungry, clothe the poor and give thanks for all they have. The Essex County, NJ Chapter partnered with the Willing Heart Community Care Center, collecting food and gently used clothing for the local charity. The NYC Chapter members took team building to a whole new level as they competed in a Supermarket Sweep, raising over $400 in groceries for The Bowery Mission. Other Local Chapters in the area, including Forest Hills, Suffolk County, Westchester and Putnam County, NY; Hartford County, CT; Manchester, NH; Midlothian and Stafford, VA; Warwick, RI and Philadelphia, PA hosted guest speakers, created bountiful Thanksgiving food baskets for families and helped stock the shelves of local food banks. Families staying at the Ronald McDonald House of Charlotte were treated to a homemade dinner lovingly cooked and served by members of the South Charlotte, NC Local Chapter.
A shopping center in Merrillville, IN, was the site of a highly successful ‘Shop for a Cause.’ Chapter members got a jump start on their holiday shopping and contributed a nonperishable food item to the local church pantry. Other creative Thanksgiving initiatives in NAPW’s Northern Region included the Chicago, IL Chapter’s ‘Contest for a Cause,’ where members competed to see who could collect the most clothes for their local Dress for Success. Also giving thanks and helping those less fortunate were NAPW members from Orland Park and Shaumburg, IL; Minneapolis, MN; St. Louis, MO and Western Milwaukee, WI.
Senior citizens at Jefferson Manor Nursing Home are set to have the time of their lives as members from Baton Rouge, LA in NAPW’s Southern Region firmed plans for a senior talent show at the home this holiday season. In Augusta, GA, members made everyone feel like family when they hosted a Thanksgiving dinner at the local homeless shelter. The Gulf Coast, MS Local Chapter recognized the successes of businesswomen in the community at a ‘Thanks Giving’ dinner and award ceremony. Other Local Chapters in the Region that were inspired to pay it forward and give it back were Aventura, Brandon, Ocala, Palm Beach County, St. Petersburg and Pembroke Pines, FL and San Juan, PR.
From hosting guest speakers who shared their expertise to supporting our veterans to organizing food drives and fundraisers, members in NAPW’s Western Region, including Everett, WA; Salt Lake City, UT and Fresno, Los Angeles, Palo Alto, Sacramento, San Francisco, Santa Rosa, Walnut Creek, Westlake Village, San Diego and Pasadena, CA, came together and embraced the true spirit of the season.
