Nassau County Police Department (NCPD) Foundation Recognizes the 2015 Civilian Police Academy Graduating Class
Garden City, NY (PRWEB) June 18, 2015 -- The Nassau County Police Department (NCPD) Foundation congratulates the Civilian Police Academy Class of 2015 for their hard work and participation.
The program which is funded through a $10,000 donation from the NCPD Foundation, brings members of the community to the police academy once a week for fourteen weeks to participate in specialized lectures and training for the purpose of opening lines of communication and building trust between the police and the community. The graduates become part of the Civilian Police Academy Alumni Association, a group that meets on a monthly basis to continue the dialogue between the police and their communities.
“I congratulate the Citizens Police Academy graduates for their hard work and dedication to the program,” said County Executive Ed Mangano. “This program is extremely beneficial and I appreciate the NCPD Foundation for their continued support of this important initiative that builds upon our community-led policing model.”
The Civilian Police Academy was started in 1995 and the curriculum consists of specialized lectures that introduce the participants to various units within the department, as well as the different tactics, laws and policing policies. At the end of the day the residents have a greater understanding of the police department.
“The NCPD Foundation is proud of all who participated in this 2015 class,” said Eric Blumencranz, Chairman of the NCPD Foundation. “The continued interest and enthusiasm shown by the academy participants exemplifies the need for this important program which we are honored to support.”
The graduation ceremony for the 15th Civilian Police Academy class of 42 participants took place on Tuesday, June 16 at NCPD Headquarters.
