Nation's Fastest Growing Textile Recycler Sponsors Third Annual Trash 2 Trends Fashion Show
Orlando, FL (PRWEB) February 02, 2016 -- For the second consecutive year, Central Florida-based American Textile Recycling Service (ATRS) is preparing for Trash 2 Trends, an annual fundraiser for Keep Orlando Beautiful. Hosted on February 6 at SeaWorld's Ports of Call, the event is an extravagant showcase for sustainability and innovative upcycled fashion created by local artists.
The Trash 2 Trends sustainability story begins with the designer's choice of unusual reclaimed, recycled and repurposed materials and ends with a dramatic green carpet presentation. All runway creations are made from items that would otherwise head to the landfill. Last year's winning designs were concocted from throwaways including used plastic bottles, cardboard food packaging, playing cards and even a designer's old math homework.
“We are thrilled to participate in Trash 2 Trends again this year,” says Brian Papenfuss, Market Team Manager of the ATRS Central Florida facility. “This event demonstrates to the community that trash, including paper, plastic, aluminum and textiles from our closets, has a value and should not be thrown away. There is a never-ending opportunity to reuse, recycle or repurpose the items we no longer need. We cannot wait to be inspired on the green carpet again this weekend!"
As a Trash 2 Trends Diamond Sponsor, ATRS hosted the annual Mix Mingle & Materials Party, held on January 14. The party provided guests with the opportunity to meet judges and artists, see last year's winning designs and get a sneak peek at the materials incorporated in this year's runway pieces. Green-minded attendees were also given an exclusive tour of the ATRS recycling facility and learned how this local business gives gently used clothing, shoes and other textile donations a second life.
