Nation's First Lawyer-Specific Co-Working Space Opens in Denver
Denver, Colorado (PRWEB) October 25, 2013 -- LawBank has opened in Denver as the first co-working space in the country dedicated exclusively to solo and small-practice attorneys.
Located at I-25 and Colorado Blvd. in Denver, the co-working law office offers independent attorneys 24/7 access to all the amenities of a large firm, including a state-of-the-art phone system, wireless access, and printing and copying capabilities. A receptionist is on duty during standard office hours.
Partners Jay Kamlet, Rob Fogler and Jordan Deifik created the co-working law office based on Kamlet’s vision. Kamlet has been practicing law in Denver for more than 25 years and has the experience of starting his own firm. Deifik has a background in commercial real estate and handles the operational side of the business, while Fogler and Kamlet provide the know-how about the legal industry.
“Jay saw a growing number of attorneys leaving the big firms,” said Fogler, of his partner’s initial inspiration. “The idea behind LawBank was to offer an alternative to the traditional working model for lawyers without sacrificing professionalism.”
In addition to attorneys who have left larger firms, LawBank caters to recent law graduates who have decided to start their careers as solo practitioners. The partners agreed that these new lawyers needed a place to learn from, and collaborate with, others in the field.
“The vision behind it was that lawyers get better by engaging with – and practicing with – each other,” said Fogler.
One LawBank member, veteran lawyer Frank Schuchat, appreciates the collaborative environment LawBank offers. After leaving the practice he helped found in 2002 to focus on his international trade work, Schuchat has relocated his practice to LawBank with positive results.
“There’s an entrepreneurial spirit at LawBank that is refreshing,” said Schuchat. “There’s also a cooperative and collegial feel that benefits all of the attorneys working here.”
LawBank offers private offices, semi-private cubicles, open co-working spaces and meeting rooms. In addition, a coffee bar and lounge area encourage interaction among LawBank members and provide a welcoming atmosphere for members’ clients and guests. “We really want lawyers who want to cooperate with other lawyers,” said Fogler.
LawBank members may collaborate in a variety of ways, including referring business to each other, working together on projects, and sharing ideas on how to successfully manage a law practice. They also discuss legal issues and serve as a sounding board for one another.
