National Alliance for Hispanic Health 2015 Priority Is Best Health Outcomes for All
Washington, DC (PRWEB) January 15, 2015 -- EMBARGOED UNTIL – January 15, 2015 at 1:00pm EST – “Equality in access does not mean equality in outcomes. Our work is to achieve the best health outcomes for all,” said Augustine C. Baca, Chair of the Board of the National Alliance for Hispanic Health, a leading non-partisan health organization for research, service, and advocacy throughout the Americas. “After listening to the concerns of those we serve and extensive deliberations the Alliance board has charted a direction which builds on our success.”
After decades of work on access to health care the Alliance announced that the next huge challenge in health is to focus on quality. “What happens once you engage with the health care system must focus on the individual. We cannot allow the tyranny of a one-size-fits-all model to compromise the health of the individual,” said Dr. Delgado, President and CEO of the National Alliance for Hispanic Health.
The Alliance will work to insure that health incorporates the best of science, culture, and community. The task will be to listen to the individual, invest in leading community based organizations, work with national partners, examine and improve the resources and systems available, and design solutions to make health a part of each person’s life.
According to this new direction the work of the Alliance will emphasize that quality health means shared decision-making that focuses on the needs of the individual throughout their lives. For the Alliance this means that health includes the long-term services and care needs of individuals. Alliance efforts will continue to reflect that mental health and physical health are central to well-being.
“We understand that being the voice for the Hispanic community is essential and to do so in a meaningful manner requires that our mission focus on the best health outcomes for all,“ reiterated Dr. Delgado.
