National Association Formed to Focus on Improving Veteran Services
Doylestown, PA (PRWEB) January 14, 2015 -- The Travis Manion Foundation (TMF) is proud to announce a strategic partnership with newly formed non-profit, National Association for Veteran-Serving Organizations (NAVSO), which seeks to improve service delivery by organizations serving veterans and military families through data-driven collaboration. Over the past several years, industry and government leaders have expressed the need for a national coalition within the veteran serving community. TMF believes deeply in a collective impact approach to serving veterans and military families, and as such made an initial investment in NAVSO in 2014. Since 2001 the American public has shown tremendous support for the veteran and military community through generous donations and countless volunteer hours to the 40,000+ veteran focused non-profits. NAVSO is answering the call for a nationally led coalition organizing all these efforts, of which TMF is extremely proud to help facilitate.
"We are proud of our long standing commitment to support and partner with promising organizations such as the The Mission Continues and others, and are thrilled to introduce NAVSO as our next strategic partner to the veteran serving community,” said Ryan Manion Borek, President, The Travis Manion Foundation. “For years we have watched good intentioned but siloed efforts at the community, regional and national level and we know that investing in a national coalition, led by NAVSO, is exactly what is needed.”
TMF and others believe NAVSO has the potential to change the landscape for the veteran community as a trusted, neutral convener. As early as February 2015, NAVSO will begin rolling out their online platform to help service providers connect with like-minded professionals, and ultimately become more effective and efficient in their programs and services. TMF is committed to supporting NAVSO’s vision of creating a national network of providers for the betterment of our nation’s veterans and military families.
About Travis Manion Foundation
The Travis Manion Foundation is a qualified 501(c)3, founded shortly after the death of 1st Lt. Travis Manion in Iraq on April 29, 2007 by the fallen Marine’s mother, the late Janet Manion. Her goal was to empower our nation’s veterans and support other family members of the fallen, to ensure that our nation’s heroes are never forgotten. The powerful words Travis spoke before leaving for his second and final deployment to Iraq – “If Not Me, Then Who...” – have inspired a national movement that is growing rapidly. The Foundation challenges veterans and families of the fallen to lead the “If Not Me, Then Who…” movement, and inspires others to continue the service to community and country exemplified by the nation’s fallen heroes.
