National Association of Professional Woman Announces Kathy Jones, Executive Director/CEO of United Way Hernando County, as VIP Woman of the Year
Garden City, NY (PRWEB) October 22, 2013 -- NAPW honors Kathy Jones as a 2013/2014 Professional Woman of the Year for leadership in nonprofit organization management with this prestigious distinction. As the largest, most-recognized organization of women in the country, spanning virtually every industry and profession, the National Association of Professional women is a vibrant networking community with nearly 500,000 members and over 400 Local Chapters.
“The initiatives of United Way are health, education and financial stability and my job is to market those initiatives,” says Ms. Jones. As the executive director/CEO of United Way of Hernando County, FL, she is instrumental in ensuring the nonprofit realizes its goal of positively impacting the lives of community members through collaborations with businesses and corporations and successfully partnering with agency programs.
Ms. Jones is passionate about the United Way mission of creating long-lasting change, not simply applying a one-time fix. "I feel that our community is our home and when something needs to be repaired in your home, it needs to last," she says. “We work hard to create a change that is useful to the whole family, which is ultimately, our community.”
Using her expertise in marketing, business development and strategic planning, Ms. Jones establishes a strong network of partnership programs. Through its association with Dolly Parton Imagination Library, Ms. Jones said her organization has distributed more than 50,000 books to preschool children in the hopes of fostering a love of reading. It has also provided seniors and low-income families free tax preparation assistance and has partnered with and facilitated a cost-effective Rx discount card program for residents.
“There is so much you can do to make a lasting impact within your community, I encourage you to either give, advocate or volunteer with your local United Way,” urges Ms. Jones. “Change starts with each one of us.”
