National Association of Professional Women Announces Carol-Ann Cenac, Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner, Corizon-Correctional Medical Associates, a Professional Woman
Garden City, NY (PRWEB) January 13, 2015 -- NAPW honors Carol-Ann M. Cenac, R.N., M.S., M.P.A., DNP ( c ), at Corizon-Correctional Medical Associates, as a 2014-2015 Professional Woman of the Year. Ms. Cenac is recognized with this prestigious distinction for leadership in nursing. As the largest, most-recognized networking organization of professional women in the country, spanning virtually every industry and profession, the National Association of Professional Women is a powerfully vibrant networking community with over 600,000 members and over 200 Local Chapters.
Carol-Ann Cenac has been employed at Corizon-Correctional Medical Associates since 2011. She is primarily assigned to the New York City Department of Correction’s Riker’s Island facility in Queens, NY, where she is a member of a multi-disciplinary team responsible for the diagnosis and treatment of mentally ill inmates. Committed to professional development and service, she also assists in training and coaching new team members and has presented at the facility’s Grand Rounds on the topic of incorporating the organization’s mission and values into the delivery of care. Together with other cohorts at the Yale School of Nursing, Ms. Cenac presented on the topic,Owning and Managing Your Career in Nursing and Healthcare, to a group of newly qualified nurses at Yale New Haven Hospital.
Prior to joining Corizon, Ms. Cenac worked as an R.N. for New York Presbyterian Hospital in Manhattan in inpatient medical-surgical and psychiatric services, and for Sunrise Senior Living in Brooklyn, NY as a Wellness Nurse. There, she was responsible for assessing and ensuring the delivery of care to residents in an Alzheimer’s, dementia and memory loss care services setting.
Ms. Cenac received her B.S. in Nursing and an M.S. in Psychiatric Mental Health Nursing from Columbia University in New York City. She holds a Master's in Public Administration, with distinction, and a B.S. in Accounting from Long Island University. She is a 2011 recipient of the Daisy Foundation Award for Extraordinary Nurses and a 2008 New York Presbyterian Hospital Nursing Clinical Excellence Award nominee. She has been inducted into the Sigma Theta Tau Honor Society of Nursing and the Pi Alpha Alpha National Public Administration Honor Society. Currently pursuing her Doctor of Nursing Practice at Yale University, Ms. Cenac's capstone research project focuses on the delivery of adequate care to mentally ill patients, particularly in correctional settings.
