National Association of Professional Women Announces Michelle Inkster, M.D., Ph.D., Staff Gastroenterologist, Cleveland Clinic a 2014-2015 Professional Woman of the Year
Garden City, NY (PRWEB) January 13, 2015 -- NAPW honors Michelle Inkster, M.D., Ph.D., at the Cleveland Clinic as a 2014-2015 Professional Woman of the Year. Dr. Inkster is recognized with this prestigious distinction for leadership in gastroenterology. As the largest, most-recognized networking organization of professional women in the country, spanning virtually every industry and profession, the National Association of Professional Women is a powerfully vibrant networking community with over 600,000 members and over 200 Local Chapters.
“My primary objective has been to educate and empower my patients so they can have a healthier and more fulfilling life,” says Dr. Michelle Inkster. Her areas of expertise include patient care, endoscopy and general gastroenterology, focusing on digestive system disorders, including diseases of the liver and anal dysplasia.
Because anal dysplasia and anal cancer are subjects most people are reluctant to speak about, it is Dr. Inkster’s mission to make screening for anal dysplasia accepted as a routine part of healthcare for those who are at risk. This includes those patients who have had cervical cancer, a solid organ transplant (for example, liver transplant, kidney transplant and others) and those who have HIV. For this reason she and a surgical colleague have established an interdisciplinary anal dysplasia clinic to screen for and treat this disease.
Dr. Inkster has a Master's in Immunology and a Ph.D. in Cell and Molecular Biology. She is a Fellow of the American College of Gastroenterology and a member of the American College of Physicians, the American Society of Gastrointestinal Endoscopy and the American Gastroenterological Association. Dr. Inkster has also served on national committees for both the ASGE and the ACG.
