National Association of Professional Women Announces Pamela K. Lam, Senior EEE Component / Obsolescence Engineer, a 2014-2015 Professional Woman of the Year
Garden City, NY (PRWEB) January 13, 2015 -- NAPW honors Pamela K. Lam as a 2014-2015 Professional Woman of the Year. Ms. Lam is recognized with this prestigious distinction for leadership in component engineering and obsolescence mitigation management. As the largest, most-recognized networking organization of professional women in the country, spanning virtually every industry and profession, the National Association of Professional Women is a powerfully vibrant networking community with over 600,000 members and over 200 Local Chapters.
“How I got from those very humble beginnings to become a Specialized Engineer is a crazy route, even to me,” admits Ms. Lam, Senior EEE Component / Obsolescence Engineer.
Originally planning to pursue a teaching career, Ms. Lam realized after only a few college courses that teaching was not for her. After taking a job at a company that made parts for military aircraft, she became interested in working with electronics. Encouraged by a “wonderful boss and mentor,” Ms. Lam eventually obtained two Associate degrees (General Education and Applied Science in Electrical Engineering Technology), and also went on to earn her Bachelor of Business Administration, graduating with a 4.0 GPA.
Today, Ms. Lam has more than 30 years of experience working as an Engineer and has held a number of senior-level positions in component engineering. Throughout her successful career, she has honed such industry skills as electrical, electronic and electro-mechanical component research, verification, availability and documentation as well as mitigation techniques for component obsolescence management.
Ms. Lam’s talents go beyond science and math. She is also a talented artisan and creates and sells beautiful, one-of-a-kind pieces of jewelry using Swarovski crystals, fire polished beads and seed beads. Focused on expanding her craft, Ms. Lam recently took silversmithing classes.
