National Association of Professional Women Announces Rebecca Downs, Speech/Language Pathologist of R.E.D. Speech Services, as VIP Woman of the Year
Garden City, NY (PRWEB) December 27, 2013 -- NAPW honors Rebecca Downs as a 2013/2014 Professional Woman of the Year for leadership in speech pathology with this prestigious distinction. “As a speech and language pathologist, I specialize in working with stroke victims and those with autism,” says Ms. Downs. She has been evaluating and treating children and adults who have difficulty with speech or language for over 15 years.
Last year, Ms. Downs opened her own practice, R.E.D. Speech Services. Much of her work is with autistic children who have swallowing and feeding disorders. Ms. Downs provides these patients with much-needed swallowing and feeding therapy techniques that helps them develop and/or improve those critical skills. Although the field of speech and language pathology can be very challenging, Ms. Downs said the reward of watching her patients’ quality of life improve because of the skills, therapies and techniques she provides, is very rewarding.
Ms. Downs received her master’s degree in speech pathology from Northeastern State University, Oklahoma. Highly regarded in her chosen field, Ms. Downs recently accepted an invitation to sit on and review The Arizona State Committee for Rules & Regulations on Speech and Language Pathology.
