National Association of Professional Women Announces Theresa B. Hodge, Ph.D., Executive Director NCNW, Reed Educational Campus, As VIP Woman of the Year
Garden City, NY (PRWEB) December 24, 2013 -- NAPW honors Theresa Hodge as a 2013/2014 Professional Woman of the Year for leadership in education with this prestigious distinction. As the largest, most-recognized organization of women in the country, spanning virtually every industry and profession, the National Association of Professional Women is a powerfully vibrant networking community with over 600,000 members and nearly 400 Local Chapters.
"From the classroom right straight to executive leadership, there is no position I haven’t gone through to reach where I am today," says Ms. Hodge, who has over 34 years experience in the educational sector. Through the renowned success of her youth program Operation Turnaround, Ms. Hodge was sought after by the National Council of Negro Women (NCNW) to facilitate a "home away from home" for pre-teen girls from depressed areas to foster their self-esteem, healthy lifestyle and academic success.
As executive director of NCNW Reed Educational Campus, Ms. Hodge replaces the label of "at-risk students" with "potential achievers." She works diligently to provide academic tutoring programs based on the needs of each individual girl while overseeing overall campus operations. In an effort to grow the girls’ inner strength to thrive and overcome adversity, she uses her expertly tuned listening skills sharpened during her years as a guidance counselor to listen to her students’ needs and administer the emotional support they seek.
Ms. Hodge is currently in the process of writing her autobiographical book titled, "Desperation In The Trenches" due to be released in February 2014. She considers one of her greatest honors to be the mark she leaves upon the lives of the students she has helped, who, even years later, thank her for her ability to see the greatness in them, even when they could not. "I owe it to myself to do everything I can to help the children. It’s been a journey, but a very fruitful one," she says.
