National Association of Professional Women Inducts Beverly J. Smith, B.A., Practice Manager at Pediatric Anesthesiologists, P.A., Into its VIP Woman of the Year Circle
Garden City, NY (PRWEB) February 23, 2016 -- The National Association of Professional Women (NAPW) honors Beverly J. Smith as a 2015-2016 inductee into its VIP Woman of the Year Circle. She is recognized with this prestigious distinction for leadership in healthcare management. NAPW is the nation’s leading networking organization exclusively for professional women, boasting more than 850,000 members and over 200 operating Local Chapters.
“I’m pleased to recognize Beverly with this important honor,” said NAPW President Star Jones. “Her perseverance, work ethic and leadership qualities are an inspiration to all women.”
After a grant to provide job assistance training to adult and dislocated workers failed to pan out, Beverly J. Smith started in the healthcare industry. She took a temporary position working for the Chief Executive Officer of a hospital, where she eventually was hired for a permanent position.
Ms. Smith’s opportunities and roles at the hospital expanded over time. “I have been in my current role as Practice Manager for six years,” she said. “I oversee all aspects of the business office except direct patient care.”
As Practice Manager, Ms. Smith is responsible for coordinating recruitment, financial management, patient communication, appointment scheduling, paying corporate taxes, credentials, licensing, billing inquiries and completing a number of daily tasks.
With a strong human resources-related skill set, she is able to proactively identify, evaluate and monitor operational issues. “The most rewarding part of my career is to see the group grow and see potential issues resolved,” Ms. Smith said.
In looking to the future, Ms. Smith hopes to earn a role as Director of Operations. “I would like to work in an environment where the staffing level is adequate for the work responsibilities and would allow me to be more effective in my position,” she said.
