After discovering the idea of using plastic grocery bags as yarn, Ms. Anderson began testing out the idea by making a plastic bag purse—and the idea took off. Much preparation goes into each item before she can begin crocheting. The bags need to be cut and then looped together to create a ball of what she calls "plarn." The largest item Ms. Anderson makes is a beach bag that takes about eight hours and 100 grocery bags to complete. Word of Ms. Anderson’s artistic and recycling ability has made her shop a popular drop-off for the eco-conscious shopper.
