National Association of Professional Women Inducts Donna Scott, Director of Human Resources at Transdev North America, Into its VIP Professional Woman of the Year Circle
Garden City, NY (PRWEB) April 04, 2017 -- The National Association of Professional Women (NAPW) honors Donna Scott as a 2017-2018 inductee into its VIP Woman of the Year Circle. She is recognized with this prestigious distinction for leadership in entrepreneurship. NAPW is the nation’s leading networking organization exclusively for professional women, boasting more than 850,000 members, a thriving eChapter and over 200 operating Local Chapters.
“I’m pleased to welcome Donna into this exceptional group of professional women,” said NAPW President Star Jones. “Her knowledge and experience in her industry are valuable assets to her company and community.”
Donna Scott did not plan on a career in human resources (HR), but it was while waiting for another position to open in the transportation industry that her career headed in that new direction. “I was waiting to be hired on the trains and the HR opportunity was presented to me,” recalled Ms. Scott. “I declined the offer several times. My then boss was very persistent and eventually convinced me to take the HR job. I’m glad I did!”
As the Director of Human Resources at Transdev North America, a leader in the transportation industry and the largest private sector provider of multiple modes of transportation in North America, Ms. Scott has a number of key responsibilities. “I oversee the implementation and execution of HR policies and procedures; the employee lifecycle, including application, selection, new employee set-up and orientation, leave of absence, discipline and termination; assist in the fostering and administration of diversity and inclusion and employment opportunity programs; oversee the creation and review of job descriptions; and assist in performance management and employee relations issues,” she said.
Using her excellent communication, negotiation and interpersonal skills, Ms. Scott has been successful in building strong union-management relationships and resolving employee issues. Although it can be challenging to build trust amongst a workforce that is leery of management’s intentions, said Ms. Scott, she finds it rewarding knowing she is making a difference for employees and the company. “I plan to continue working in the HR field, making a difference, one job at a time,” she added.
