National Association of Professional Women Inducts Karen Malm, Owner / Executive Director, Summit Community Counseling into Its VIP Woman of the Year Circle
Garden City, NY (PRWEB) July 16, 2015 -- The National Association of Professional Women (NAPW) honors Karen Malm as a 2015-2016 inductee into the NAPW VIP Woman of the Year Circle. She is recognized with this prestigious distinction for leadership in counseling. With more than 700,000 members and over 200 operating local chapters, NAPW is the nation’s leading networking organization exclusively for professional women.
“I’m pleased to recognize Karen with this important honor,” said NAPW President Star Jones. “Her perseverance, work ethic and leadership qualities are an inspiration to all women.”
Karen Malm has one important mission as a licensed psychologist and the owner of Summit Community Counseling: to transform lives and create fulfilling, purpose-driven strategies for long-term success and happiness. She is the sole owner and executive director of the company, which she started in May 2012 after being let go from her previous job. To date, she has grown the business to include 15 therapists and over 700 clients in four offices.
In addition to managing personnel and all the responsibilities involved in owning a company, Dr. Malm continues to see patients. She enjoys making people feel comfortable and helping them with their self-esteem. “I want happiness not only for my clients but for my employees. My motto is ‘I want this to be the best job you have ever had’ and I continue to support my staff,” she said. Dr. Malm and her staff provide every client with opportunities for ongoing growth and development.
Dr. Malm is rewarded knowing that she is helping to change people’s lives. She is skilled in working with children with reactive attachment disorder, adults and children with post-traumatic stress disorder and therapy issues related to day-to-day life issues. In the future, she is hoping to write a book to help people overcome personal challenges. Dr. Malm’s biggest accomplishment is starting her own company with only $200 in her account. All of her business debt is now paid off and the company continues to grow, grossing over $1,000,000 in less than three years. She is extremely proud of her professional accomplishments and the positive impact she has had on others’ success. She has built a successful life for herself and others after coping with the challenge of losing her job and starting over professionally.
