National Association of Professional Women Inducts Karen Primak, President / CEO of IPAK, Into its VIP Woman of the Year Circle

Karen Primak spent nearly ten years working at a Madison Avenue advertising agency, honing her already strong creative skills and business acumen as she steadily climbed the corporate ladder. “I worked hard and rose through the ranks quickly from entry level to partner,” she recalls. In 1997, her drive to explore entrepreneurial endeavors led her to the decision to take on a full-time management position at IPAK, which produces highly differentiated sales, marketing and educational tools (previously, she held an advisory role at the company).
“The decision to lead IPAK was an easy one as I saw the potential of IPAK and was hungry for the opportunity. It was an interesting time in printing and manufacturing as technology was changing at a rapid pace,” said Ms. Primak. “It was during the dawn of the Internet and desktop publishing was morphing, challenging conventional methods and ushering in a new way of doing business. I was enticed by the idea of combining all of my passions into one place.”
During her highly successful tenure at IPAK, Ms. Primak has been instrumental in growing the company and its business. In less than a decade, it has gone from ten employees to more than 110 and has expanded into many industries, also taking on federal government contracts. Working with a team of professionals, Ms. Primak fosters a collaborative environment of innovation, optimism and decisiveness, encouraging her staff to, like herself, think outside the box, and always welcoming their input and suggestions.
This proud mother of two admits the most rewarding part of her career “has been seeing the power of diversity in action. Culturally progressive and socially reflective, IPAK’s success is due to the innovation that has ensued from hiring people from varied cultures, experiences, genders, ages and backgrounds.” She is planning for the company’s continued growth as IPAK helps America achieve a “manufacturing renaissance.”
