National Association of Professional Women Inducts Linda Kerman, Paralegal, Ogletree, Deakins, Nash, Smoak & Stewart, P.C., Into VIP Professional Woman of the Year Circle
Garden City, NY (PRWEB) August 15, 2017 -- The National Association of Professional Women (NAPW) honors Linda R. Kerman as a 2017-2018 inductee into its VIP Woman of the Year Circle. She is recognized with this prestigious distinction for leadership in entrepreneurship. Linda Kerman started her career as a receptionist at a law firm and quickly realized the legal field was where she wanted to be. A Paralegal now for 20 years, Ms. Kerman has been in that role at the law firm Ogletree, Deakins, Nash, Smoak & Stewart, P.C. since 2011. “I followed an attorney to Ogletree Deakins and hope to be here/work with him for the rest of my career,” Ms. Kerman said.
Responsible for assisting attorneys who specialize in all type of labor and employment cases, including class actions, FLSA, discrimination, OSHA/MSHA, Union, unfair competition and trade secrets, wage and hour, multi-plaintiff/multi-defendant, and FMLA, Ms. Kerman is also instrumental in mentoring, supervising and managing other paralegals and practice assistants at the firm.
“There is such a wide array of people – how they learn, how they work, how they deal with complex situations, etc. – that as a mentor/manager I have to be cognizant of in order to properly guide and assist them,” she added. But whether it is supporting attorneys as they manage their caseloads or helping a new Paralegal navigate the legal system, Ms. Kerman uses the skills she has honed in multi-tasking, delegating and finding other creative solutions to resolving issues/problems.
For the future, Ms. Kerman hopes to build on her leadership and mentoring roles to help and guide other Paralegals. “I would like to host seminars/webinars on how to be an effective Paralegal, how Paralegals can become more efficient in their practice area(s), and what steps Paralegals should be prepared to take if they want to move forward in their career while continually being challenged and loving the area of law they’re in,” said Ms. Kerman.
