Garden City, NY (PRWEB) September 08, 2015 -- The National Association of Professional Women (NAPW) is honoring Melissa L. Kosack as a 2015-2016 inductee into its VIP Woman of the Year Circle. She is recognized with this prestigious distinction for leadership in law. NAPW is the nation’s leading networking organization exclusively for professional women, boasting more than 775,000 members and more than 200 operating Local Chapters.
“I’m pleased to present Melissa with this important honor,” said NAPW President Star Jones. “Her knowledge and experience in law are valuable assets to her clients and community.”
Melissa Kosack has built a successful career as an accomplished litigator, representing a variety of clients, including directors, officers and other corporate executives, in white collar and commercial matters. After completing law school at Benjamin N. Cardozo School of Law in 2005, Ms. Kosack’s professional career began at Loeb & Loeb, as a Lead Senior Associate on commercial litigations dealing with the subprime mortgage and accounting industries. She is a graduate of Cornell University.
Since April 2010, Ms. Kosack has been a critical member of the court-appointed BakerHostetler legal team representing Irving H. Picard, SIPA Trustee for the liquidation of Bernard L. Madoff Investment Securities LLC. One of the nation’s leading law firms, BakerHostetler is committed to helping its global clients address complex business and regulatory issues with five core national practice groups—business, employment, intellectual property, litigation and tax.
Ms. Kosack’s primary focus has been the identification and preparation of trial experts—in complex areas such as financial fraud, asset tracing and asset recovery—for the ongoing litigation required to recover funds stolen in the Madoff Ponzi scheme. Ms. Kosack’s considerable knowledge of the most effective management and use of trial experts has contributed significantly to the Madoff Recovery Initiative. Ms. Kosack and her BakerHostetler colleagues, working on behalf of the SIPA Trustee, have achieved recoveries to date of more than $10 billion.
