National Association of Professional Women Inducts Tara Carter, RN Complex Case Manager at SCAN HealthPlan, Into its VIP Woman of the Year Circle
Garden City, NY (PRWEB) July 14, 2015 -- The National Association of Professional Women (NAPW) honors Tara Carter as a 2015-2016 inductee into the NAPW VIP Woman of the Year Circle. She is recognized with this prestigious distinction for leadership in healthcare. With more than 700,000 members and over 200 operating local chapters, NAPW is the nation’s leading networking organization exclusively for professional women.
“I’m pleased to welcome Tara into this exceptional group of professional women,” said NAPW President Star Jones. “Her knowledge and experience in her industry are valuable assets to her company and community.”
As a teenager, Tara Carter found an interest in helping others and volunteered at Long Beach Memorial Hospital. After exploring the healthcare field and through the encouragement of her family, she pursued her career and became a Medical Assistant. She then
went on to become a Registered Nurse. Learning about SCAN Healthplan’s mission from a friend, she knew it would ultimately be a great fit for her and has now been a part of the company for 11 fulfilling years.
Ms. Carter’s role as a RN Complex Case Manager varies. She has the privilege of assessing needs of SCAN members as well as the very important role of coaching them, their caregivers and family members on medical conditions, medication management and
assisting with care coordination. She is also responsible for auditing case documentation and coaching other R.N.’s to assure standards and compliances are met.
“Helping and empowering others to help themselves is the most rewarding thing I do, and I get to do that each and every day,” she said.
In 2010, Ms. Carter founded “Sisters into Sharing,” a mentoring program for young women that focuses on helping them achieve their professional goals. This endeavor has brought her a great deal of pride and satisfaction. Aspiring to continue to grow in her role at SCAN Healthplan, her other aspiration is for “Sisters into Sharing” to become a nonprofit organization in the near future.
