Babette A. Ceccotti, Partner at Cohen, Weiss & Simon LLP in New York, NY
Babette A. Ceccotti joined the firm in 1983, and became a partner in 1990. Ms. Ceccotti focuses on the firm's bankruptcy and employee benefits practice areas. As part of her bankruptcy work, she has represented unions and employee benefit plans in employer bankruptcy proceedings and frequently consults on policy matters involving the intersection of bankruptcy law, labor and employee benefits. President Clinton appointed her to the nine-member National Bankruptcy Review Commission which served from 1995-1997. Ms. Ceccotti's employee benefits practice has includeed litigation and counseling regarding regulatory compliance, plan administration governance and other matters. She is the author of several articles on labor and employee benefit issues in bankruptcy.
Dennis F. Dunne, Partner at Milbank, Tweed, Hadley & McCloy in New York, NY
A distinguished restructuring practitioner, author and speaker, Dennis Dunne is a partner in the New York office of Milbank, Tweed, Hadley & McCloy and a member of the firm's Global Executive Committee. He is a Practice Group Leader of the firm's Financial Restructuring Group. Mr. Dunne has extensive experience in representing debtors and creditors in reorganization cases and out-of-court workouts, acquirers of financially distressed companies, providers of financing, and board of directors of public and private companies. His engagements have ranged across a wide array of industries, including automotive, airline, apparel, cable and broadcasting, chemical, construction, gaming, healthcare, housing, infrastructure, manufacturing, pharmaceutical, energy, retail, shipping, telecommunications, and textile.
Hon. Dennis R. Dow, U.S. Bankruptcy Judge, Western District of Missouri, Kansas City, MO
Dennis R. Dow was appointed as a bankruptcy judge for the Western District of Missouri in November 2003. Prior to his appointment, Judge Dow was a partner at Shook, Hardy & Bacon where he had worked since 1978. Judge Dow is a Fellow in the American College of Bankruptcy and is a member of the executive committee of the American Bankruptcy Institute. His leadership was instrumental as chair of the National Conference of Bankruptcy Judges’ (NCBJ’s) Fall 2013 educational program. Judge Dow serves as the current chair of the Federal Judicial Center’s bankruptcy education committee.
The NBC is a non-profit, non-partisan, self-supporting organization of approximately sixty lawyers, law professors and bankruptcy judges whose primary purpose is to advise Congress on the operation of bankruptcy and related laws and any proposed changes to those laws. The NBC was formed in the 1930’s at the request of Congress to assist in the drafting of major Depression-era bankruptcy law amendments, ultimately resulting in the Chandler Act of 1938. The NBC has been a resource to Congress on every significant piece of bankruptcy legislation since that time.
