National College Launches New Information Technology Degree Programs in Ohio
(PRWEB) October 31, 2013 -- Ohio residents can find the training they need to open the door to an exciting new career in information technology, right in their own communities. In July, National College announced the development of a new associate degree program in network administration, and now another new associate degree program in software development & engineering is being added to the college’s list of career program choices. The newest program will launch in December at all seven of National College’s Ohio campuses.
“To give students more options in a field that is growing and high in demand, National College continuously evaluates the latest career trends,” said Tom Jackson, institutional director of IT programs for National College. “This is how we are able to stay on top of the needs of our workforce and add to or modify our career-training programs.”
The new software development & engineering associate degree program, available at National College’s campuses in Akron, Canton, Cincinnati, Cleveland, Columbus, Dayton, and Youngstown, will prepare students for careers in programming and software development. The curriculum allows students to utilize classroom skills in hands-on exercises that simulate real world scenarios. Course content will include JAVA, object-oriented programming languages, Web engineering, relational databases, operating systems, computer networks, and distributed systems. Certification opportunities include (CompTIA) A+ Professional and Network+ Professional credentials.
In addition to the revamped associate degree curricula, National College’s affiliated institution, American National University, is introducing a bachelor’s degree program in network administration that will build on the associate degree, adding advanced preparation in cloud computing, collaboration and messaging services, Unified Communications, and integration of Linux based devices. The network administration bachelor’s degree program will be offered to students throughout Ohio beginning this winter through American National University’s online program.
All programs benefit from the hallmarks of the National College educational approach: small class sizes, individual attention, instructors with real-world experience who teach the skills needed in today’s workforce. Tuition-free refresher courses and lifetime access to the university’s online research library allow graduates to keep their skills up-to-date, while lifetime access to National College’s 31-campus network of career centers gives graduates a ready resource when they wish to seek new employment opportunities.
