National Fatherhood Initiative Announces New President
Germantown, MD (PRWEB) October 16, 2013 -- National Fatherhood Initiative’s Board of Directors has announced that Christopher A. Brown is the organization’s new president.
Brown, who has been with National Fatherhood Initiative (NFI) since 2000, has been the organization’s executive vice president since 2010. In that position, Brown has been responsible for the development, implementation, and evaluation of NFI’s programming, training, curricula, and workshops, and has overseen NFI’s finance operations. Moreover, he has played a critical role in shaping NFI’s focus as the leading provider of fatherhood skill-building resources in the country and the leading trainer of practitioners seeking to offer fatherhood programs in their communities.
In his long tenure with NFI, Brown has been the organization’s foremost developer of its world-class fatherhood programs. Brown has authored flagship NFI programs such as the 24/7 Dad® and InsideOut Dad® curricula, and many workshops, brochures, pocket guides, and other skill-building materials.
An applied anthropologist and author of several journal articles and book chapters on issues related to child health and well-being, he has studied masculinity cross culturally, especially as it applies to fatherhood and men's health and well-being. Brown served as a social marketing specialist and health communications consultant with the Texas Department of State Health Services before joining NFI.
Carlos Alcazar, chairman of the board of NFI, said, “Chris is exactly the leader NFI needs to continue its growth as the leading developer and distributor of state-of-the-art fatherhood programming. Chris knows what it takes to not only create resources to help men be better fathers, but how to form key partnerships with the military, corrections, and community-based sectors that will get those resources into the hands of our nation’s dads.”
"I'm honored to be named president of National Fatherhood Initiative,” said Brown about his appointment. “I've dedicated my career to ensuring that as many children as possible grow up with involved, responsible, committed fathers. I'll continue to work with our amazing staff to accelerate NFI's growth as the country's leading creator and distributor of fatherhood skill-building resources, #1 trainer of practitioners and organizations on fatherhood programming, and the most quoted authority on the critical role that fathers play in children's lives."
As the premier fatherhood renewal organization in the country, National Fatherhood Initiative (NFI), founded in 1994, works in every sector and at every level of society to engage fathers in the lives of their children. NFI is the #1 provider of fatherhood resources in the nation. Since 2004, through FatherSOURCE, its national resource center, NFI has distributed over 6.5 million resources, and has trained over 13,200 practitioners from over 6,500 organizations on how to deliver programming to dads. NFI is also the most quoted authority on fatherhood in America. Since 2009, NFI has been mentioned in over 3,400 news stories, and makes regular appearances in national media to discuss the importance of involved, responsible, and committed fatherhood.
