National Foundation for Infectious Diseases Receives Top ASAE Honors for Keeping the Nation Flu-Focused
Bethesda, Maryland (PRWEB) July 29, 2014 -- The National Foundation for Infectious Diseases (NFID) has been named a 2014 ASAE Power of A Silver Award winner for "Keeping the Nation Flu-Focused," a public awareness campaign to encourage everyone age six months and older to be vaccinated against influenza annually.
ASAE recognized NFID for its power to enrich lives through its steady communications effort to drive awareness and action among consumers and professionals about the importance of vaccination.

NFID launched the 2013-2014 flu season with its Annual Influenza/Pneumococcal News Conference at the National Press Club in Washington, DC, convening a collaborative partnership of government, non profit, and industry to emphasize the importance of vaccination. The event created a high level of media interest to convey important public health messages to the public and healthcare community via an intense multimedia campaign, using both traditional and social media vehicles to launch the flu season. The high profile media event is viewed by many in the media and immunization community as “opening bell” for flu season.
NFID brought together many leading medical/public health groups to demonstrate a strong and unified commitment to disease prevention, and reinforce the importance of annual influenza vaccination. The program also included “Leading by Example,” featuring organizations, celebrities, and corporate and community leaders getting vaccinated throughout the season. A partnership with Parade.com also reached consumers with targeted influenza and pneumococcal messages.
