National Men's Organization Working to Change the World, One Man at a Time
Racine, WI (PRWEB) August 23, 2014 -- The ManKind Project USA is in Racine Wisconsin with a group of over 80 community leaders and peer facilitated men's group organizers to continue planning for 2015 events and activities. Representatives from over 20 geographic regions, from Hawaii, California, and Arizona, all the way to Metro New York and New England are sitting together to work toward fulfilling the organization's vision of "creating a safer world, where all men are brothers in relationship with one another."
"We've set out to prove that emotionally mature, accountable, powerful, purpose-driven, and compassionate men can help society heal some of its deepest wounds. And we're taking action to make it happen." said Boysen Hodgson, the organization's Communications Director.
As part of the conference, men's groups organizers and facilitators are getting additional skill building and leadership training in creating and maintaining healthy and supportive peer-facilitated men's groups. ManKind Project training graduates offer groups for any man looking for support and challenge to handle the obstacles that naturally occur in modern life.
Mike Elser, from New Hampshire, and the past Chairman of this national nonprofit organization says, "In the ManKind Project, we're helping men wake up! And we're providing them with skills to grow up as mature men so they can show up and make the world a better and safer place."
The ManKind Project USA has been conducting New Warrior Training Adventure educational weekends for nearly 30 years. The organization had its start in Milwaukee, WI in 1984. Since the first training offering, the organization has grown to encompass 9 global regions on four continents around the world, with over 53,000 men having participated. Hodgson said that there are over 10,000 men now sitting in a network of peer-facilitated men's groups around the world.
Two highlights of this weekend conference are keynote presentations by Charles Eisenstein, the author of "Sacred Economics," and "A More Beautiful World Our Hearts Know is Possible," and a keynote address by Dan Pecaut of Iowa, who will be talking about the deep connection and impact of ManKind Project work on the Pine Ridge Lakota Reservation. Both Eisenstein and Pecaut are also members of the ManKind Project and graduates of the New Warrior Training Adventure.
The ManKind Project will be conducting over two dozen New Warrior Training Adventure educational weekends for men in the 4th quarter of 2014, and is planning their events for 2015. For locals in Wisconsin, there are men's groups in a number of communities across the state and in neighboring states.
"Men getting together in a positive way, like this ... this is revolutionary," said Jewel Love, a member of the organization's Board of Directors.
