National Museum of the Pacific War Host Annual Veterans Day Observance
(PRWEB) October 30, 2013 -- On Monday November 11th at 11a.m. in the Memorial Courtyard the National Museum of the Pacific War will hold its annual Veterans Day observance to honor all of those who have served and are serving in the United States Armed Forces. General Edward Rice, USAF Commanding Officer of Lackland AFB (Ret.) will be the keynote speaker for this program. This program is free and open to the public.
General Rice is a 1978 distinguished graduate of the U.S. Air Force Academy. He has commanded a squadron, group, wing, the Air Force Recruiting Service, two numbered air forces and a joint command. His numerous staff positions include serving as a White House Fellow at the Department of Health and Human Services, as a professional staff member for the Commission on Roles and Missions of the Armed Forces, and as the Deputy Executive Secretary for the National Security Council. He has also served as Chief of Staff of the Office of the Representative and Executive Director for the Coalition Provisional Authority, Office of the Secretary of Defense, Washington, D.C.
Opening remarks will be given by Joe Cavanaugh, Museum Director of the National Museum of the Pacific War. The invocation will be given by Captain Roger Spencer, USN (Ret). Colors will be posted by the color guard from National Security Agency, Central Service Section based at Lackland AFB. FISD NJROTC will lead the National Anthem. The Nimitz Living History Detachment will execute the three gun volley, followed by taps performed by Bill Smallwood and LtCol Randy Richter, Ret. Ambleside School Choir will perform a musical medley during the program.
