National Ovarian Cancer Coalition and Diana's I Will Live™ Foundation Join Forces for Together We Will Live Event
Dallas, TX (PRWEB) June 22, 2016 -- The National Ovarian Cancer Coalition (NOCC) and Diana's I Will Live™ Foundation (DIWLF) have partnered to host the Together We Will Live event on Sun., Sept. 11, 2016. The event will take place at Edgemere Park/Burges High School in El Paso, Texas.
There will be a 5k Competitive Run starting at 8:30 a.m., followed by a 5K Fun Run/Walk and a One-mile Walk. The pre-registration cost is $25 for adults, $15 for children ages three through 10, and free for children ages two and under. Race day registration is $30. Proceeds from the event will benefit NOCC and DIWLF programs, events, and activities.
The first 1,000 registrants will receive a T-shirt and all attendees will receive information about ovarian cancer.
"We are excited that DIWLF and NOCC will partner together in this worthy endeavor to raise awareness about the symptoms and treatments of ovarian cancer", said Marco Martinez, DIWLF Board Member. "We believe that our 3rd annual 5k race, to be held on September 11, 2016, will be an event that will both honor family and friends that have passed, but will also raise awareness about this horrible disease. We look forward to working with NOCC and making a difference against ovarian cancer in the greater Southwest Texas and New Mexico region."
More than 20,000 women are diagnosed with ovarian cancer each year, and approximately 14,000 women die from the disease annually. It is the fifth leading cause of cancer deaths among women and is the deadliest of all gynecologic cancers. There is no early detection test for ovarian cancer. Symptoms may include bloating, pelvic or abdominal pain, trouble eating or feeling full quickly, and feeling the need to urinate urgently or often. Women who experience these symptoms for two weeks or longer are encouraged to visit their health care provider.
