Mr. Ross has been involved in numerous high profile cases, including most recently as lead jury trial counsel for the proponent and advocate/mediator in the will contest over the estate of reclusive heiress Huguette Clark of “Empty Mansions” fame, a case which settled at the start of a projected six to eight week trial in the Surrogate’s Court of New York, File No. 1995-1375A. He also represented Mickey Rooney in his highly publicized financial elder abuse case (Los Angeles Superior Court, BP 126970) and is now representing Mickey’s estate in defense of a will contest brought by several of Mickey’s children (Los Angeles Superior Court, BP 151040). With Mickey’s approval and endorsement, Bruce established the Holland & Knight Mickey Rooney National Elder Abuse Pro Bono Project, providing legal services to indigent elderly victims of financial abuse.
As Chair of a Los Angeles County Bar Association Committee, Mr. Ross was the principal author of the rules and guidelines for mediation adopted in 1997 by the Probate Department of the Los Angeles Superior Court. Mr. Ross has appeared pro hac vice in many states and has consulted with lawyers overseas in several countries in cases involving multi-jurisdictional and international issues.
