Nationwide Title Clearing, Inc. Representatives Volunteer at Clearwater Jazz Holiday for 2nd Consecutive Year
Palm Harbor, FL (PRWEB) November 06, 2013 -- Clearwater Jazz Holiday, an annual music festival consisting of four days and nights of live music, was held October 17-20 in downtown Clearwater. The event’s mission is to raise funds to provide scholarships to students interested in pursuing education in the arts with an emphasis on music – as a company committed to supporting music and arts education in the Tampa Bay area, Nationwide Title Clearing, Inc. representatives volunteered at the festival. The Palm Harbor leading documents research and post-closing services provider for the residential mortgage industry contributed in several ways including gate security and ticket sales.
As a large hiring force in the Tampa Bay area, NTC wanted to find out how they could help contribute to the viability of their community as they expanded. They commissioned a marketing research survey which provided data indicating that one of the best ways to improve the local community is by supporting events that boost the tourism industry for the area. The 2012 Clearwater Jazz Holiday brought 35,000 people from around the country – 57% were from Pinellas County and over 5,000 were from outside the country, bringing an overall economic impact of approximately $6 million locally.
Though it began over 30 years ago as a 10-day series of jazz concerts, Clearwater Jazz Holiday has become a distinguished event due to its tradition of bringing legendary jazz talents to the area. But the true ambition of the Clearwater Jazz Holiday Foundation is to raise much-needed funds to bring resources and opportunities to local students through educational outreach, internships and intensive jazz education sessions with international recording artists. NTC representatives volunteered in the afternoon and early evening of Saturday, Oct. 19. As a result of its hard work and dedication, NTC earned the privilege of being one of only three companies in the area with the advantage of registering in advance a large number of staff to volunteer at next year’s festival.
“Not only is it a pleasure to help the community put on a successful event, but our staff look forward to being able to enjoy the experience with their coworkers,” said Joellen Thompson, NTC Vice President. “At NTC, we encourage our employees to participate in local community functions that make this [area] a better place to live, work and play.”
In addition to its focus on improving music education, NTC’s initiatives extend to its community affairs – the company helped stabilize Palm Harbor by supporting local food banks and also by employing and training over 300 nearby residents. Many of NTC’s 350 local employees also regularly organize and partake in other community events such as blood, food and toy drives. NTC executives are currently looking ahead with plans to extend the company’s community-focused practices as the backbone of NTC culture.
For businesses considering incorporating volunteer programs, Hillman suggests beginning with employee education by sharing company goals with employees, as well as the facts about what the program will actually consist of – employees want to hear about how the community is being impacted. By doing so, continued Hillman, businesses can encourage an employee’s willingness to take action and participate.
