New York, NY (PRWEB) March 23, 2015 -- Natural Gourmet Institute (NGI), the leading health-supportive culinary school, is now offering a Cooking for People with Illness Certificate Program. Throughout the unique 11-day course, students will learn about whole systems biology, core nutritional imbalances, the psychology of eating, and how to translate a dietary prescription into practical meal planning and preparation. Students will also gain an understanding of how specific diets and cooking techniques relate to different illnesses.
By the end of the course, students will have learned about: common issues of chronic disease (genetics, environment and diet); how and what to cook for people with cancer, immune disorders, diabetes, heart disease, celiac, inflammation and other common illnesses; how to develop culinary strategies that support clients' well-being during treatment; using food to combat side effects; building immunity, and much more.
The program will be taught by leading health-supportive chefs and alumni of NGI’s Chef’s Training Program, Laura Pole and Ruth Fehr. Laura Pole is the founder of Eating for Lifetime, a service that provides consultation and education services to those who require specialized diets. She is also an oncology nurse and cookbook author. Ruth Fehr has been a culinary educator for over ten years. Ruth conducts nutrition and culinary presentations, cooking workshops, and group lectures for cancer patients and their caregivers, and for various nonprofit organizations.
