NDIA Board and Defense Leaders Recognize Former Pentagon Industrial Base Leader Brett Lambert
Arlington, VA (PRWEB) November 18, 2013 -- Sean O’Keefe, Chairman of the National Defense Industrial Association (NDIA) Board of Directors, awarded Brett Lambert, the former Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defense for Manufacturing and Industrial Base Policy, NDIA’s Gold Medal for distinguished achievement at its annual Board dinner. Under Secretary of Defense for Acquisition, Technology, and Logistics, Frank Kendall, joined in the recognition, and former Under Secretary of Defense for Policy, Michèle Flournoy, delivered the evening’s keynote address.
“From the beginning Brett impressed defense industry with his level of effort and willingness to listen, and his record of achievement speaks volumes about what the Pentagon and industry can accomplish when we work together in a spirit of mutual trust and dedication to the mission,” said O’Keefe.
Among Lambert’s many accomplishments, O’Keefe listed the Sector-by-Sector, Tier-by-Tier analysis of the defense industrial base, which created a unified picture of U.S. defense manufacturing capabilities for the first time, and Lambert’s work on President Obama’s National Network for Manufacturing Innovation, a program to reinvigorate the manufacturing base in the United States and grow the U.S. economy. Lambert’s efforts drove the President’s selection of additive manufacturing, also called 3-D printing, as the pilot for his national manufacturing initiative, and the further competitive selection of the National Center for Defense Manufacturing and Machining as the President’s sole manufacturing pilot program.
“The scope and significance of these two efforts reflect how Brett was willing to take on any task that needed to be done, no matter how big,” O’Keefe added.
