Nearpod Partners with Common Sense Education to Offer its Pioneering K-12 Digital Literacy and Citizenship Curriculum
San Francisco, CA (PRWEB) June 29, 2015 -- Nearpod, an education technology company, has partnered with Common Sense Education, the education arm of Common Sense, the nation's leading nonprofit organization dedicated to helping families and schools thrive with media and technology, to provide over 75 interactive and engaging lessons about thinking critically, behaving safely, and participating responsibly in the digital world.
Each of the age-appropriate lessons empower students to navigate challenging issues as Internet safety, privacy and security, cyberbullying, digital footprints, creative credit and copyright.
With Nearpod’s technology platform, teachers will be able to present the K-12 Digital Literacy and Citizenship curriculum as synchronized lessons to students’ mobile devices and will include interactive content such as polls and quizzes, allow for on-the-fly assessment and robust analytics and reporting on student performance.
“We are thrilled to partner with Common Sense Education to provide their unique and effective curriculum in our content store,” said Guido Kovalskys, CEO of NearPod. “Thanks to this partnership, teachers will now have access to a world-class library of interactive and engaging content to introduce, discuss and assess their students on what it means to be a responsible digital citizen as technology becomes an integral part of their lives.
“As more students have the opportunity to use technology in their classrooms, there is an increasing imperative to prepare them to use it wisely,” said Mike Lorion, General Manager of Education for Common Sense. “We are delighted to partner with Nearpod, a multi-platform solution that makes it easy for teachers to deliver these important lessons about maximizing the potential and minimizing the perils of the online world and prepares students to use the Internet to boost their learning.”
All the lessons align to the Common Core State Standards, the International Society for Technology in Education’s National Education Technology Standards (ISTE’s NET•S), and the American Association of School Librarians (AASL) Standards.
