Nebraska Methodist College Achieves Record Enrollment For Fall 2016
Omaha, NE (PRWEB) September 15, 2016 -- At a time when colleges across the country are struggling to meet enrollment goals, Nebraska Methodist College’s exclusive focus on healthcare has led to an unprecedented number of students.
The not-for-profit college has 1,088 students for the fall of 2016, an increase of 14% from two years prior. First-time first-year students have also increased by 40%.
“Our exclusive focus on the nursing and healthcare fields is validated by 15 years of consecutive enrollment growth,” said Dr. Dennis Joslin, president and CEO of Nebraska Methodist College. “Along with our consistently high job placement rates, this record growth lends credence to the idea that we are the premier school in the Omaha area for a healthcare education.”
A number of factors have contributed to this growth. Careful research has led to the advent of programs like the Master in Occupational Therapy, an on-campus offering that equips students with the compassion and technical expertise necessary to provide a higher quality of life for their clients. In addition, NMC has debuted an MBA in Healthcare, a Bachelor of Science in Healthcare Management, a new Doctor of Nursing Practice track and an Informatics track in its ongoing Master of Science in Nursing program.
With growth comes an array of new facilities dedicated to providing students the best learning environment possible. In addition to new lab spaces dedicated to Occupational Therapy, NMC recently opened the 501 Center along Dodge Street. This renovated space houses a fully energized x-ray lab for radiology students and various lecture and hangout spots equipped with state-of-the-art furniture and interactive tech.
The 501 Center, the biggest campus expansion ever for NMC, also has a Sonography lab with one completely unique feature: an antique bank vault. Rather than hoist the vault out of the building at considerable expense, NMC has converted the area to a study space adjacent to the brand new lab, creating an impressive conversation piece for students and visiting guests.
