NEFA Awards $630,000 to Support New Ensemble & Devised Theater Works
Boston, MA (PRWEB) August 08, 2013 -- The New England Foundation for the Arts has awarded $630,000 through the National Theater Project to support the development and touring of six new theater projects.
The National Theater Project (NTP) promotes the development and touring of artist-led collaborative, ensemble, and devised theater works. Modeled on NEFA’s National Dance Project, NTP functions as a full system of support for devised theater, which not only provides funding but animates an informed, interactive network of producing theaters, presenters, and ensembles. Leadership support for NEFA’s National Theater Project is generously provided by The Andrew W. Mellon Foundation.
“We are delighted to announce these selections—exciting, original theater in the making that will tour to connect with a range of audiences across the U.S.,” said NEFA executive director Rebecca Blunk. “We are eternally thankful for the Mellon’s leadership and support.”
Grants for this round ranged from $85,000-$120,000. The six grant recipients are:
Aion Productions, LLC (Durham, NC) for "The Clothesline Muse"
Cloud Eye Control (Los Angeles, CA) for "Half Life"
Complex Movements (Detroit, MI) for "Beware of the Dandelions"
Elevator Repair Service (NY, NY) for "Arguendo"
En Garde Productions/Ed Bilous (NY, NY) for "BASETRACK"
Lucidity Suitcase Intercontinental (Philadelphia, PA) for "RED-EYE to HAVRE de GRACE"
