More stringent regulation on discharge requirements has led to an increased demand for environmentally friendly ways to perform tasks such as maintenance and testing for pipeline defects in the oil and gas industry. The purpose is to test the integrity of pipe wall, welds and joints. The hydro test water used is whatever is readily available; it could be fresh or sea water. The resulting water treated by UV light, adds no chemicals to the testing process. UV is a simple and very powerful method of disinfecting any corrosion inducing organisms present in the water.
The skid mounted UV system has the capability to disinfect 600 gallons of fresh water per minute. The skid is stainless steel, specially designed to provide overhead shelter from the harsh conditions found at most remote locations where pipelines are tested.
