Neptune Society Operations Team Volunteers at Feeding South Florida
(PRWEB) June 08, 2017 -- Neptune Society is always looking for new ways to help the communities that they serve, and recently they worked with local food bank Feeding South Florida to help provide meals for families in South Florida. The Operations team at Neptune Society volunteered to help ensure that no one in their community has to go hungry.
The fifteen-person team volunteered on March 29th to sort a total of 15,643 pounds of food donated to Feeding South Florida. Then the team packaged 13,011 meals for South Florida families. Each of these meals go toward making sure that children, single parents, working poor, veterans, and homeless in South Florida have access to healthy food.
Feeding South Florida is a food bank that services families in Palm Beach, Broward, Miami-Dade, and Monroe counties. Their food goes to homeless shelters, day care centers, soup kitchens, food pantries, and other nonprofit partner agencies that are able to provide over 25% of Florida's food insecure population with meals. Feeding South Florida is also a branch of Feeding America which services families across the country. Volunteers at Feeding South Florida, including the Neptune Society Operations team, have the opportunity to provide food security to thousands of families by sorting through the 44 million pounds of food that Feeding South Florida collects every year.
Neptune Society also serves their community by providing families across the country with affordable cremation services and information about the funeral industry. Information about rising funeral trends, including cremation can help families plan ahead for a memorial that best captures the spirit of their unique lives. Plus, planning these kinds of services in advance gives people a way to create cremation plans without letting emotions and time pressure their decisions, allowing them to make better informed decisions.
By talking to a cremation specialist and learning more about the options available for cremation services, families can get a better sense of which cremation services are best for them. With affordable options available in South Florida and across the country, Neptune Society has helped thousands of families choose services that suit both their budget and their wishes. There are also specific veterans services provided to make sure that America's greatest heroes receive the honors they deserve along with affordable cremation services.
Devoting their time to assisting families in need is a familiar task, and Neptune Society hopes to find new ways to guide families through trying times. And, sometimes, that help can come from just helping a family put food on their table.
