NES Health Celebrates 40 Years of Hospital Emergency Department Management Services

This year, NES Health celebrates 40 years of providing outsourced emergency physician staffing and management services for hospitals. Founded in 1975 in Tiburon, CA by physician Allan Rappaport, M.D., JD, NES Health today manages emergency departments at US hospitals stretching across the country from Connecticut to Washington and from Alaska to southern Georgia.

In 1975, NES Health was launched with just three employees. It wasn’t until four years later, in 1979, that emergency medicine was approved as the 23rd U.S. Medical specialty—and a decade later, it became a primary Board in the American Board of Medical Specialties. Throughout the formative years of emergency medicine, Rappaport was a calm, collected leader of NES Health, analyzing processes, reacting to roadblocks and making the right decisions.
