NETA’s PowerTest 2016 Experience Begins with Presentations, Panels, and Products
Portage, Michigan (PRWEB) December 15, 2015 -- The week of PowerTest 2016 will start off by delivering the latest electrical power systems technical information to attendees, setting them up for networking success through meaningful connections with leaders in the field.
PowerTest 2016 — sponsored by NETA – InterNational Electrical Testing Association and scheduled for March 14-18, 2016 at the Omni Fort Worth Hotel in Fort Worth, Texas — represents the largest gathering of electrical power systems professionals in the industry. PowerTest is the only conference and trade show targeted for the electrical testing industry.
PowerTest Monday
Monday, March 14, 2016, choose from 27 technical sessions to attend, including tracks on Electrical Safety, Reliability, Equipment, Circuit Breakers, and Electrical Commissioning. The scope of Monday’s learning includes:
• Electrical Safety Track. Presentations cover protective devices maintenance and potential impact on arc-flash incident energy, potential impact of ISO 55000 on electrical maintenance and safety, electrical safety principles and practices, electrical safety program development guides, and arc-flash mitigation by transformer differential relay protection.
• Reliability Track. A session on system testing of protection devices and schemes is followed by improving safety through partial discharge surveying, a case study on transformer failures, how to protect batteries, an update on power quality monitoring and communications, and how disruptions in dc and communications affect protection.
• Equipment Track. This track kicks off with sessions on bushing replacements and gaps in motor reliability, followed by presentations on testing and monitoring of electrical systems, understanding and testing motor overload and thermal models, electric and dielectric condition assessment of HV current transformers, and understanding transformer differential protection.
• Circuit Breakers Track. Presentations span power factor testing for SF6 breakers, a study on vacuum levels in 314 service age vacuum breakers, effects of low resistance measurement instruments on protection and control devices, diagnostic testing for SF6 filled dead tank circuit breakers, a discussion on the TankLoss Index, and where to connect the circuit breaker and transducer.
• Electrical Commissioning Track. Features in this track include a talk on application and commissioning of on-line partial discharge technology to medium-voltage switchgear, electrical commissioning tips and trends for advanced critical facilities applications, and electrical testing and inspection of equipment in questionable condition.

A bonus opportunity on Monday is the Technical Reports Symposium on “Communicating with Your Client,” led by Ron Widup of Shermco Industries. This session describes challenges involved in explaining technical information accurately and succinctly to clients and owners, and offers ideas and reference materials to help electrical testing and maintenance personnel establish clear lines of communication. Attendees can interact with subject matter experts on technical report structure and readability.
PowerTest Monday closes with a New Product Forum from 5:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m., where attendees can learn about dozens of the latest products and innovations, major expansions, and significant improvements by the leading industry-specific manufacturers and suppliers. Attendees who stay until the end are eligible for to win an exclusive prize.
PowerTest Tuesday
Tuesday, March 15, 2016, begins with a morning of panel discussions on Electrical Safety, Cable Testing, Circuit Breaker Maintenance, and Protection and Control. Tuesday afternoon offers a change of pace with the PowerTest 2016 Trade Show, featuring 100 top-tier electrical power vendors whose products and services focus on electrical safety and reliability. Lunch will be served at the Trade Show, which offers expanded hours this year from 12:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.
PowerTest Trade Show attendees are also invited to join NETA's Corporate Alliance Partners as they share insights and best practices on the Spotlight Stage located at the center of the Trade Show. Everyone who attends a presentation will receive an entry to the door prize drawing at 5:45 p.m. The Spotlight Stage schedule begins at 12:30 p.m.
Tuesday wraps up with the popular PowerBash Reception, full of Western charm; the best of Texas music, food, and hospitality; and continue to deepen connections made with colleagues during the first two days of PowerTest.
