NetCom Learning Awards October 2013 Sarder Scholarship to US Veteran David Brown
New York, NY (PRWEB) November 26, 2013 -- Twelve year U.S. Army veteran, David Brown was awarded the October 2013 Sarder Scholarship by NetCom Learning. Currently working for the army as a civilian in the area of technology, Mr. Brown has earned the U.S. Army’s Commanders Award for Civilian Service in 2012 and the Achievement Medal for Civilian Service in 2013. Brown’s dedication to his job and his love of learning made his application for a Sarder Scholarship stand out from others. The Sarder Scholarship is an award that is given out on a monthly basis to deserving applicants who are looking to improve their skills in the areas of information technology and related fields. The scholarship is named for the CEO of the company, Russell Sarder, who is an ambassador for lifelong learning and continuing education. Each scholarship winner receives a $2500 scholarship which can be used for NetCom Learning coursework.
“David Brown is committed to excellence and to give back to his community exemplifying the type of person we look for in a Sarder Scholarship winner,” said Russell Sarder, CEO of NetCom Learning.
“David knows where he is going and what coursework will help him achieve his dreams and we are happy to be able to help him on the road to continued professional success,” said Sarder.
David Brown served in the U.S. Army for more than twelve years before retiring for medical reasons in 2002. He currently works for the army as a civilian in the area of information technology as Subject Matter Expert and has achieved a variety of certifications on his own including Security+, MCSA Windows 7, MCITP Windows 7, Microsoft Project 2010, and SharePoint 2010. His goals for the future include becoming a Microsoft Certified Trainer (MCT) and pass on his knowledge to others. He will be the first individual within his work group to attain an MCT. In attaining MCT certification he is looking to improve his teaching and presentation skills so that he can work as a trainer but also “pay it forward” by assisting at an outreach center for the unemployed. Having recently had to deal with being furloughed temporarily from his job with the military due to the economic crisis and the government shutdown he is particularly grateful for the scholarship which allows him to continue his education despite current financial issues.
The Sarder Scholarship is open to individuals of any background or skill level and can be used for any of the IT industry courses NetCom Learning provides.
