Neville Hewitt Conference USA Defensive Player of Year Impresses NFL Scouts On Pro Day

Hewitt is the first player in Marshall’s history to be named Conference USA’s Player of the Year and was also named to the first team Conference USA. At 6-2, 230 pounds, Hewitt has been described as having a “tremendous nose for the ball, great closing speed, gets downhill fast, and is excellent on pass rush and coverage”. This was backed up by his pro day results, as all of his numbers were better than the average for players at his position who participated at the recent NFL Combine. Hewitt ran an impressive 4.65 40-yard dash, impressed with a 37-inch vertical jump and 9’11” broad jump.
NDT Scouting has given Neville Hewitt an overall evaluation grade of 7.49 (out of 10), which equates to a 3rd Round Value and projects Hewitt can be picked as high as the 2nd round. Despite his undersized frame, he ranks favorably in terms of leadership, athleticism, production and overall talent. “Hewitt has the football IQ to develop into a NFL star, he possesses unique skill sets at linebacker” , say David Schuman.
