New App Takes Aim At Complicated Gun Laws
Ogden, Utah (PRWEB) July 30, 2013 -- From outdoor music festivals in Washington to political rallies in Nebraska, the thousands of places across the nation where concealed firearm permit holders are not allowed to carry their firearms are often impossible to discern, until now. A group of Utah attorneys and firearm instructors have developed an innovative mobile phone application that aims to help those traveling with a firearm avoid potentially life changing legal pitfalls. With the tap of a screen gun owners can now have access to the gun laws they will be required to abide by at anytime, anywhere, for under $1.
Legal Heat co-founder and attorney Phil Nelsen says his goal in creating the Legal Heat app is to help those who desire to carry a firearm to be able to do so while still abiding by the law. "During my legal career I have worked as a prosecutor and a criminal defense attorney. Very early on I came to realize that given the sheer number of firearm laws across the country it is extremely difficult for the average person to understand and abide by all of them. Our goal is simply to help the thousands of responsible citizens desiring to carry a firearm for personal protection avoid any legal problems they may run into." With tens of thousands of people who have downloaded the Legal Heat app and more than ten thousand more who have purchased the gun law guide in traditional book format, Legal Heat is well on the way to achieving its goal.
The Legal Heat app for iPhone, Android and Kindle Fire covers the concealed firearm laws for all 50 states, as well as the open carry laws and the transport laws. There is also a section that covers federal laws and includes video overviews of how to handle tricky legal situations such as transporting a firearm across state lines or getting pulled over by a police officer. The app also allows users to send Legal Heat messages when the laws in their state change or about any other improvements they'd like to see.
Nelsen says the app has been very well received and was recently given a complete facelift. "We've been overwhelmed by the support and positive feedback we've received regarding the app. The most recent update allows us to update the laws instantly on our end, and allows users to download the laws for offline viewing on their end, all in a matter of seconds. We look forward to rolling out many more improvements and features in the near future. We've barely scratched the surface at this point."
The app is available on iPhone, iPad, Android and Kindle Fire Devices for $.99 by searching for "Legal Heat". For anyone who prefers a more traditional route, the gun law guide can also be purchased in traditional book format from Legal Heat's website.
Aside from publishing the Legal Heat firearm law guide, Legal Heat also offers in person firearm training classes each month in roughly 15 states, offers speaking appearances, and appears regularly on television and radio programs as guest commentators. Training over ten thousand people each year in their courses and speaking engagements, Legal Heat hopes to continue to promote safe and responsible firearm ownership for years to come.
