New at Summit Racing Equipment: Evans Cooling Waterless Engine Coolant
Tallmadge, OH (PRWEB) April 22, 2015 -- Sounds like magic, but Evans Waterless Engine Coolant is just basic science. By eliminating the water, Evans Waterless Engine Coolant eliminates overheating, boil-over, and after-boil.
Water may do a good job of cooling people off, but it’s not so great for an engine. The boiling point of water-based coolant is somewhat above the boiling point of water. Hotspots within the cooling system can lead to localized boiling, generating water vapor (steam). When water turns to steam it pressurizes the cooling system, putting stress on hoses and other components. Water vapor is also a very poor conductor of heat. Hot engine metal, insulated by water vapor, becomes a hot spot that can cause pre-ignition and detonation.
What’s more, the oxygen in water causes corrosion and allows electrolytic activity, which damages metal parts.
Evans Waterless Engine Coolant has a boiling point of over 375°F, far above the operating temperature of the engine. That high boiling point ensures the coolant will not vaporize. Liquid coolant is in contact with the engine water jackets at all times, providing excellent heat transfer away from the hot metal. No water also means no corrosion problems either.
Evans Waterless Engine Coolant offers protection to temperatures as low as -40 degrees F. It has a specially-formulated inhibitor package designed for all gasoline, light-duty diesel, LP, and CNG engines. It contains no silicates or phosphates, and requires no supplemental coolant additive.
Water and Evans Waterless Engine Coolant don’t mix well. Vehicle owners replacing water-based coolant with Evans must flush all of the old coolant out of the system. Then, they should use Evans Prep Fluid to remove any residual water after draining the cooling system. Summit Racing also carries Evans’ cooling system tester to check for any remaining water.
